Lately, I've been thinking about the similarities between sports and business.
A business's success depends on its defense and offense. Playing both is essential.
Like in sports, businesses have to focus on both protecting what they have and going for what they want.
In baseball, the pitcher tries to get the batter out, while the batter tries to get on base. In business, the company tries to make money, while the customer tries to get a good deal.
In football, the offense tries to score, while the defense tries to stop the other team from scoring.
In business, the company tries to increase its market share, while the competition tries to take away its customers.
In basketball, the offense tries to score, while the defense tries to stop the other team from scoring.
In business, the company tries to increase its sales, while the competition tries to steal its market share.
In life, we're all on both sides of the fence. We're all trying to get something, while also trying to take something.
I'm not sure what the point of this is, but it's something I've been thinking about lately.
